Because of the air conditioning problem at the State HQ, our EGC meeting on May 5th will be held at the Goldwater Institute at 500 East Coronado Rd.
Representatives from the Maricopa County Elections Department will give a presentation on redistricting and their plan on saving the county large sums of money in future elections. This plan will include eliminating 300 to 400 precincts by combining adjoining precincts. They would like your thoughts on the plan since the plan will naturally involve reducing the PC quota by one for each precinct that is eliminated.
Since the topic is of great significance, I plan to devote the entire time to their presentation.

MARICOPA COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE LINCOLN DAY D AWARDS GUIDELINES
NOTICE:
All awards are based on actions taken by prospective recipients in the year PRECEEDING the actual year that the Lincoln Day Luncheon is held. EXAMPLE: The 2011 Lincoln Lunch are given as the result of actions taken during CY2010.
One of the reasons that a Lincoln Day Luncheon is held is to recognize the hard work of our Precinct Committeemen and honor them for their dedication and commitment under what are, sometimes, trying circumstances.
There are four (4) levels of awards:
1. CERTIFICATES OF ACHEIVEMENT--To be presented to precinct committeemen who have done an outstanding job during the previous year. These recipients are selected by the District. One Certificate will be awarded for every twenty-five (25) precinct committeemen, or major portion thereof, within the District. Maximum of eight (8) Certificates per District.
2. VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD-- One (1) award to be presented to the most outstanding volunteer in each District.
3. THE LINCOLN BUST--To be presented to the one person selected by the Awards Committee to receive the Countys highest award. Only one (1) Lincoln Bust will be presented in the Area. Only one award will be made to an individual in a lifetime. The following criteria will apply:
A. Must be an elected Precinct Committeeman
B. Neither elected public officials nor current District Chairmen are eligible
C. Give priority for work done in the Precincts
D. Consider the number of years served as a Precinct Committeeman
E. Consider other party activities engaged in
F. Consider participation in Community and Civic Activities
G. Paid staff are not eligible for award
4. THE REAGAN PLAQUE--To be presented to a person meeting the same general criteria as the Lincoln Bust with the exception that the Reagan Award may be given to someone who has not yet exhibited a lifetime of service to the Party, and an individual may, conceivable, receive more than one Reagan Award in their lifetime.
The AWARDS COMMITTEE for the event are:
Chairman Phil Mason, Gopphil@aol.com
Lyle Tuttle, L.tuttle@cox.net
Carol Turoff, ckasnt@aol.com
Leo Mahoney, leomahoney@Juno.com
All nominations for the Lincoln Bust and the Reagan Plaque must be received by each member of the AWARDS COMMITTEE by Noon, March 3. The use of email is preferred. Late submittals may not be considered.
