Require the Prior" great work in the LD 15‏

Greetings,

I would like to suggest that everyone in the LD 15 become informed of the"Great" work that is being accomplished for us all by the group known as "Require the Prior".

I have had the privilege to be involved with this group for some time now,and have be very impressed with the Indian School Corridor - Citywide Coalition combined efforts for us all.

They are growing, hoping to soon double in size, including all neighborhood associations, churches and businesses in the City of Phoenix, especially the LD 15.

Please consider inviting Ann Malone to your next Association meeting as aspeaker and get the word out. I recently had the privilege of introducing her to the Pastor Staff at North Phoenix Baptist Church, where I attend.

Find below their follow up letter, as it was copied to me as well.

NPBC,

It was great meeting you last night. I appreciate you taking the time to assist in these important efforts. Included is the information you requested.

Require the Prior is a city-wide movement started by a mother of seven witha mission to increase safety and remove career criminals and repeat offenders from the city of Phoenix. The movement has grown to represent over 20,000 households and 700 businesses including neighborhoods, business associations, churches and schools. It represents by serving as an umbrella group fighting for safer streets leading to better economy at a local level.

The white paper on our website outlines in length systemic problems thatexist but here is the abridged version and what we're doing currently and plan to do and how. Currently there are city laws in the books that enable the proper apprehension, prosecution, and penalty of career criminals (those with significant prior convictions); however, because the police, prosecutors, and judges are not properly aligned nor coordinated, career criminals continue to roam Phoenix and decrease economic activity andendanger society through petty and serious crime. Improper alignment ofthese agencies perpetuates a problem of criminal activity by diminishing the incentive for each agency to properly enforce the laws as they relate to repeat offenders.

Currently we are educating and mobilizing community and neighborhood groupsin an effort to save the diminishing Phoenix police force during budgetcuts. We provide current information regarding the situation of the policingenvironment and suggest ways community members can let their voice be heard. We are also growing our organization so we have a stronger voice inpromoting safety. These actions deal with the short term budget issues.

Beyond the budget, we are working with Phoenix Law Enforcement Association drafting a resolution to take before the City Council before June providing solutions for the alignment of the law enforcement agencies. This resolution will allow the City Council to ensure that proper alignment is created andexecuted. The greater our voice when going before the City Council the better our chances of success. As mentioned, we already have great support but would greatly appreciate the support of North Phoenix Baptist Church inour efforts. Joining requires no membership fee, just a shared understanding of the responsibility we have to ensure our police force has what it needsto keep our streets safe.

Thanks again and please let me know what else you need. Check out thewebsite for more details if you like - www.requiretheprior.org. LD 15, you can also reach Ann Malone at 602 410-1449 or malone@requiretheprior.org

Thank you in advance for this consideration,

Bob Thomas
Senate Candidate - LD 15
