LD 15 Senate Candidate Bob Thomas Quoted in Phoenix Business Journal

Phoenix business owner says he won’t be expanding to Seattle because he’s upset with the Emerald City’s boycott of Arizona over its immigration law.

The Seattle City Council passed a resolution Monday that tells city agencies to refrain from traveling to Arizona and from contracting with Arizona-based companies. Seattle joins Los Angeles, Columbus and Austin among other cities and groups boycotting the state.

The new state law instructs police to ask suspected illegal immigrants for IDs and worker and travel documents.

Bob Thomas, president Bulldog West Equipment Corp., an automotive equipment supplier, wrote the Seattle Times after the Arizona boycott was passed.

“Just to let you know we are canceling our expansion plans to open a branch in Seattle. Your city council should mind its own business or better yet plan to come to Southern Arizona and pick up the litter left by the trail of illegals crossing our border daily,” Thomas wrote.

Thomas is a Republican running for Arizona State Senate in Phoenix. State Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Phoenix, also is seeking that seat.
